The Ukawu Scholarship Initiative (USI) is a visionary educational initiative committed to transforming lives through the power of opportunity. Rooted in the values of equity, academic excellence, and community service, USI is designed to identify and support academically promising and indigent youth from Ukawu community in Onicha Local Government Area, Ebonyi State.

Our Mission
To provide merit-based financial scholarships, mentoring support, and community engagement opportunities for academically promising indigent students of Ukawu origin — nurturing a new generation of scholars, ethical leaders, and change agents.
What We Do
Four commitments to every scholar
Award Scholarships
Every academic year, USI awards scholarships to three (3) newly admitted students in universities across Nigeria.
Promote Academic Excellence
Scholars maintain strong academic standing to retain funding — and earn additional incentives for graduating with First Class.
Encourage Community Service
USI goes beyond funding — scholars give back with at least one month of service in Ukawu every year, mentoring others and building local education.
Inspire Leadership
We cultivate discipline, responsibility, and a deep sense of belonging — grooming each scholar for community impact, not just personal success.

Our Story
Born out of a shared dream
USI was created in 2025 as a grassroots solution to one of the most urgent challenges facing Ukawu youth — access to quality post-secondary education.
By channeling resources into the most promising students who are indigent, we aim to build a stronger, more educated Ukawu for future generations.

The scheme is administered by a dedicated Scholarship Committee of respected educators, professionals, and community representatives — ensuring fairness, transparency, and impact at every stage, from screening and raffle draws to monitoring and renewal.
